WSU Marks Milestone With First Graduating Doctors
Washington State University recently featured an important moment in medical education in its Washington State Magazine. The publication highlighted the first physicians to graduate from the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine in an article titled “Healing the Call.”
These new doctors represent the first full MD class trained through WSU’s community-based medical curriculum, a program built to grow physician capacity across Washington.
Profiles include graduates such as:
- A physician who served a decade in the military before pursuing medicine.
- Others drawn from varied personal and professional paths to meet rural and urban health needs.
The story shows how purpose and service shaped these clinicians, and how their training prepares them to deliver care in diverse settings.
This milestone reflects a shift toward training doctors who are ready to serve local communities and address health care shortages statewide.
